A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to dabble in culinary experimentation with saffron thanks to Rumi Spice.
Saffron tea was treasured by the ancient Egyptians and Persians in many aspects including herbal medicine and culinary tradition. The bright red stigmas of the saffron flower are carefully hand-picked. This preserves aroma and flavor. The rich, golden color of saffron tea comes from crocin, a chemical component in the flower that has a lot of antioxidants. It is said that this delicate part of the flower can help with eyesight protection, anti cancer properties and heart disease protection.
Wanting to share the experience of saffron with my readers, I asked if they would share a green tea + saffron kit with you guys. One of you lucky readers can win this set; it includes the finest organic loose-leaf green tea plus 1.0 gram of premier Afghan saffron.
